Station Accessibility Upgrades
Project dates: 2025
V/Line has improved accessibility at 16 stations across the network as part of a program to upgrade passenger experience.
The $10 million works, carried out in 2024 and 2025, followed passenger feedback and consultation with key stakeholders.
They included new access ramps at Clarkefield and Kyneton stations, while an accessible ticket counter and bathrooms were installed at Castlemaine Station. An accessible ticket counter was also delivered at Clarkefield Station.
At Caroline Springs Station, the customer ticket counter was replaced with a thinner countertop which will make it more accessible. There were also upgrades completed to the station’s existing bathrooms, including installing a new washbasin and power-operated swing door.
At Wyndham Vale Station, the accessible customer ticket counter was trimmed to provide easier access for passengers.
At Drouin Station, the existing bathrooms were replaced with accessible unisex, male and female toilets each containing an ambulant cubicle.
At Warragul Station, the main customer ticket counter was replaced with a split-level countertop that improves access for passengers.
Accessible unisex bathrooms with new features were installed to replace existing facilities at Shepparton Station.
Passengers who are blind or have low vision will be able to get around stations more safely following upgrades to the tactile ground surface indicators at Ardeer, Caroline Springs, Castlemaine, Clarkefield, Drouin, Kyneton, Little River, North Geelong, Shepparton, Tallarook, Tarneit, Warragul, Woodend and Wyndham Vale.
Accessible seating has also been installed in and around the stations at Drouin, Warragul, Shepparton, Tallarook, Castlemaine, Clarkefield, Woodend, Little River, Tarneit, Wyndham Vale, Ardeer, Caroline Springs and Rockbank.
These works are in line with our Accessibility Action Plan 2025 to 2028 which has been developed to continue to improve access for regional public transport services.
