Freedom of Information
Freedom of Information requests
The Victorian
Freedom of Information Act 1982 gives you the right to:
- access documents held by V/Line Corporation about your personal affairs and the activities of V/Line; and
- request any incorrect or misleading information held about you by the V/Line be amended or removed.
It is recommended to first contact V/Line to confirm whether a formal Freedom of Information (FOI) request for documents is required. There is a range of information on this website and on the Public Transport Victoria’s website, that you can access without the need for an FOI request.
For any FOI queries, please contact:
Email:
foi@vline.com.au
Phone: 9619 5205
A FOI request must be lodged:
1. In writing to:
V/Line Freedom of Information Officer
GPO Box 5343, Melbourne VIC 3001
2. With a $32.70 application fee (as at 1 July 2024). If payment of the application fee would cause you hardship, you can ask for it to be waived by providing evidence, such as a photocopy of your current health care card; and
3. Be specific enough to allow V/Line to identify documents considered relevant to the request. Where the terms of a request are vague, assistance will be provided to you to help determine the type of documentation being sought.
